As I snack on a blue bowl of blueberries

The berries are coming in.  Just another reason I love summer.  The blueberries are first, but now the red raspberries are sparsely dotting their leafy bushes.  And this morning I picked and ate one of the black raspberries, but it wasn't quite ready, so my tongue told me.  The red raspberries are the best though. I could eat them instead of candy.

We recently rented The Sorcerer's Apprentice and August Rush.  The former was fast-paced and funny, the latter captivated me.  I remember Kellie posting about August Rush once, saying how good it was, so now I've finally come around to it.  I loved it.  The music was awe-inspiring, and left me thirsty for more.  And I must admit, Kellie, Freddie is pretty adorable. ;)

As far as my educational life goes, I am preparing to take the ACT tomorrow at 8:00 in the moaning, er, morning.  So all week I've been taking practice tests, studying test-taking strategies, and trying to remember how functions and factoring works and what the heck sine and cosine mean.  And I've been getting practice at writing an essay about some random topic that I don't care about in 30 minutes.  But I'm feeling pretty confident, nonetheless.  I'll just be glad to finally do it.

As far as my artistic life goes, I'm learning to play "The Call" on the piano, I've got an idea for my next song, and I've painted another watercolor and collage.

The daisies are real, I picked and pressed them myself.  I'm thinking about calling this one "Innocence."

This is just a random weird one I decided to paint.  It was inspired by a dream.  Oh, and speaking of dreams, I had a dream a few weeks ago that Kellie was at my house and we had an epic, I've-been-wanting-to-meet-you-forever hug.  But I kept wondering where Meg was...

DBF Out!

  1. Oh yay! I'm glad you liked August Rush! :) I also saw the Socerer's Apprentice and personally thought it lacked pazazz. (But that's just me) Your collage is really beautiful, very creative. The real daisies are cool, and I like how you made the sun like a clock. (at least I hope that's a sun lol :) What kind of paper did you use? Also your dream painting is very colorful, it reminds me of Alice in Wonderland. And indeed, Megan should have been there for the Epic group hug. I which I can't wait for! XD

  2. My dad thought it would have been better if the dead sorcerers were fully raised. Then there would have been a more epic battle. I agree.
And thank you. The clock is actually to symbolize waiting. The hearts suggest on what I'm waiting ;) and the meaning of the daisy is purity. I used mod podge to glue light teal and yellow tissue paper to the canvas, then watered down some acrylic green and yellow, and painted on a sort of tye-dye effect.
Alice in Wonderland is the feeling i was going for in the watercolor painting, because the dream was indeed very Wonderlandful.
And I can't wait for it eitherrrrr!!!!

  3. Oh sweet! I like how you have hidden topics that only you know, but everyone else can still see the beauty. And I never thought of that, having "the Rising" actually work in the movie. That would have made it more interesting. And that's really creative how you did the paint and layer the tissue paper. The next art thing I'll be working on is some canvas paintings for my sister's room, she's getting it redone.

  4. I love berries. (x That seems like such a random opening for a comment, but the beginning of your post just made me smile.

    My little sister keeps saying that she wants to see The Sorcerer's Apprentice, so I'll have to let her know what you thought about it. WAHHHH August Rush is an AMAZING movie! Have either of you seen the trailers for the new movie Freddie Highmore is going to be in (the one with Emma Roberts. It's title escapes me haha d:). ...All I have to say is that he has grown up rather nicely. d;

Your moaning/morning made me laugh. Hopefully, seeing as this was posted a few days ago, that went really well for you! (:

Ahhhh you should post a video of you playing The Call once you have it down, I'd LOVE to hear it! A friend of mine just recently sent me an MP3 of the theatrical version of that song (rather than the album version that I had before), so I've been listening to it moreso than usual lately. I'll bet you do it a lot of justice!

Oh, I love the symbolism in your Innocence painting, it makes it that much more special. (: I think that whenever I'm feeling different cause I'm still waiting for that someone, I'll think of that. Haha, it's funny that Kellie mentioned that your other painting reminded her of Alice In Wonderland; that's exactly what I thought of as well. And, like all of your wonderful art, it's beautiful. (: I love the clouds.

Oh dear, I'm afraid that my blogging absence has been worse than I could have imagined! (; Well I'll be sure to be there on that epic-to-end-all-epicness day! Wouldn't miss it for the world. :D

  5. "The Art of Getting By" Yes, I was going to mention that to you guys. I haven't seen trailers, but I have seen pictures, and I definitely agree with you about Freddie! ;)

I'm glad you said that; I've been waiting for that special someone for so long. I've only had like one guy ever like me, when I was 11. I don't know what I want with the trouble of a guy; I guess maybe part of it is that feeling of being wanted, and having the ability to break someone's heart, if you so choose. Perhaps that's why I'm still waiting, lol.

I love how you said I'd do it a lot of justice. That made me smile, though I may not live up to it.

  6. Aha! Thanks for saving me a long night of picking my brain for that movie title! My mom said that it looked like a good movie, so hopefully we'll go and see it.

I know exactly what you mean. Sometimes I feel so weird, cause I'm 17 and I've never been out on a date before, or had a legit boyfriend. It's funny that I saw that tonight, though, cause it was somewhat of an emotional night. To put it in a nutshell, I was crazy about my best friend for 6 years, and tonight was the first time that we had seen each other in over a year because we were both going to be at this local youth group event, but he spent the entire night avoiding me and hanging out with this girl who could've passed for a supermodel, which didn't make me feel so great. /: So, in a way, this meant more to me from seeing it tonight than I can honestly express. I know that we'll find the ones for us though, all three of us. Because to be honest, I think you guys deserve kings. (Attractive British kings preferred, of course. (;)

OH TOSH. Even if it was terrible, I can guarantee that it would still be sweet as clover to the honeybee. (:

  7. Have you ever seen or read Anne of Green Gables? They're wonderful movies and books. The reason I ask is because an Anne quote came to my mind about you: "I knew you were sympathetic to the human plight the minute we met." In this case, it's the teenage girl plight. I'm glad I know you. The three of us are indeed "kindred spirits."
