Georgia Days

Last Thursday, my family and I drove to north Georgia to visit my grandparents.  We'll be leaving a little bit later today, so I thought in my spare time I'd write about our time here.  My grandma is an amazing cook, so I've been feasting on taco soup, spaghetti and meatballs, and other good stuff.  Friday we raked the VERY leafy yard (I got to use the leaf blower; happy Caroline!), and my sisters stayed in part of the time and watched Alice in Wonderland with Johnny Depp >:(  The next day went downtown.  It's a small town, and the weather was gorgeous, and everything was really nice.  We went into this wonderful art gallery and I wish I would have gotten pictures because there was some awesome collages and some oil paintings that looked like watercolors (very enchanting).  Around town there were really cool ice sculptures (pun intended), and I told my mum that if I saw a lion one, I'd have her get a picture of me licking it to put on my blog. But all I saw was a dolphin, an apple, a moose, and a few other things.  For a late lunch, we got some awesome Hawaiian pizza, ham and cheese calzone, and eggplant Parmesan.  Finally, we went to a quaint local coffee shop called L and L Beanery and got some frappes and chocolate cake.  The building used to be a bank, and in one corner was an old piano with a sign that read, "Please feel free to play if you are musically inclined."  YES!
Well, my impatient youngest sister is practically pushing me out of the computer swivel chair, so I must be going now.  Have a splendiferous day! ;)

  1. Sounds like you had a great time :) And when you did the >:( to Johnny Depp. Is that a slash against him? lol, I think he's odd but a great actor. Anywho, how amazing would it have been to get a pic with a lion sculpture! My mom would only let me put my pic on here if I did something really cool, or took a pic with a famous person haha (Like when Hugh Jackman came to Mason :)
You are so lucky living down where you do. The weather was great yesterday, and today there is a thick patch of freezing snow on the grass. Now I'm stuck inside, what better thing to do then blog :)

  2. Oh, no! That wasn't what I meant at all! What I meant was that I was jealous of my sisters because they were inside watching the awesome movie while I was outside blowing leaves. I love Johnny Depp, so I was doing this >:( because I wasn't watching him. Okay, all clear.
I don't know if my mum would even have let me put the picture on here. She wouldn't let me video myself giving the oil pastel advice, so I'm not sure how she'd feel about a picture.
Yeah, the weather's been great down here in the South. The temperature actually hit 70 degrees this weekend! I was wearing flipflops and capris. I bet you can't wait to get to Florida! ;)

  3. Ohhhhhh! haha, my bad :) I see how you felt now.
My mom would let me post a video of advice, not showing my face, just my voice and the paper and paint. But videos load so slow that I gave up on that one. And yes, I can't wait to go to Florida. My dad is outside, snowblowing the driveway, and my sis and I are babysitting my three little cousins, (9, 7, and 5).
Maybe I'll take them outside to play later.
Almost all of my mom's side of the family lives out here in the this small town now. My mom has three brothers and two of them live out here. The closest cousin I have is only 10 days older than me. and I have another cousin the same age as my sis so we have a tight knit family.

  4. Lucky! The only first cousin closest to my age is 18, and I've never met her and she lives in Missouri. I've also got cousins in Alabama, New Jersey, and Florida. And I've I got relatives in Maine, and New York, and Virginia, and I've even heard some on my mom's side in Ireland! My mom was adopted, so who knows where some of my biological relatives are. I like to imagine they're royals, lol.
I hope babysitting the cousins goes well for you. I love to babysit my 4-year-old cousin and her 2-year-old brother. They are the most adorable kids on the face of the planet.

  5. Dang, you got family all over the place. My dad has 7 siblings and one of them lives in Pensilvania. And I have a great Aunt in California but that's it haha, the rest of us are here in Michigan. But that's nice.
I have so many little cousins they drive me nuts haha. At least having a big family so close, we go over to my uncle's big house for everything. Super bowl, Christmas, Thanksgiving, the whole nine yards. lol

  6. I know what you mean about lil'cousins drivin' you nuts! Last summer I had three 8-year-olds, one 11-year old, and one 10-year-old all on the mountain at the same time for a few weeks. And they don't always get along either!
We usuall go to my aunt and uncle's (the ones with the 2 cute little kids) for Thanksgiving, and they live in a nearby town. It's our house for Christmas, and my Mamaa and Papaw's down the hill for Easter. So, I don't see everyone at the hollidays; mainly just the ones in state.

  7. It's so cool that you live on a mountain. It must not be to high up because of your nice weather. :) Do you have a great view? I guess I could say I live in "the country" way out in a "small town" so I can relate to a lot of Taylor Swift songs haha ;) We call our town the
four corners, because there is a saloon on one corner, a corner store on another that is remodeled to look like an old fashioned mercantile, a small gas station on one side, and a quait little library on the last corner. I'm hoping to get a job at it this summer. :D
My school is really nice too. The elementary, middle, and high school are all connected. So I see my sis in the middle school on my way to the bus. There are tons of fields and wide open spaces. I'm lucky to live there though. No school fights or anything dramatic goes on, and the soccer team has no tryouts ;) So I'm garunteed a spot on when it starts next month. I'm pretty good though so hopefully I will be on varisty like the coach promised :D
Wow, I didn't mean to talk so much about myself haha. Tell me more about you :) Your life sounds very interesting.

  8. I love to hear about you! I didn't know you played soccer; that's so cool. I tried out once, but I got so worn out I decided not, lol. And I played softball for five years, starting when I was 5, and I was the most sorry excuse for a ball player. One fly ball, no home runs. Five years. Yeah.
I was a much better ballerina, for three straight years, starting when I was 6. My teachers would tell my parents I could go places with it, but for some reason I wanted to quit. Now I kinda wish I hadn't, but oh well.
And I've also done gymnastics, which was really fun because I'm of a somewhat small build, so I got to be at the top of all these high awesome pyramids. And I love to ski and bowl. So now you know about my sports life, lol.(except, ballet isn't a sport xD)
I live in a very rural area. My friends up the road live on a dairy farm. The view up here is amazing; I'll have to post a picture soon. I actually lived the first few months of my life in Florida, where I was born, but this is the only home I can remember.
Your town sounds like the sort of place I'd like to visit; I love little quaint places. And I'm glad you've got a good school and library; our library is kinda dark and dingy, but I really don't know what the schools are like here, lol. Lifetime homeschooler.
