What an Easter...

My mom is the very best there is for setting up Easter baskets, and doing lots of other things that I won't talk about at the moment because I'm giving attention to the Easter basket right now.  So, I come downstairs at the hundredth call of my little sister, my hair wound up in bobby pins for a new Sunday morning curly style, and I see this:

How about an up-close look at the guardian of my chocolate?

I picked him up with trembling hands, and he now guards my bedside. :) There is also a mini-bio on the back, which tells of how "his wisdom has matured and his wisdom has strengthened," and "he helps his older brother." I think help is a bit of an understatement, but I don't care.  My mom says I now have a "Portable Pevensie," and that is a most delightful thing.

And I have spent a good deal of time learning to play "Arrival at Aslan's How" from this!  It has every single one of my favorites from the movie: The Kings and Queens of Old, The Door in the Air, The Call, This Is Home, and others.  Score! (pun intended)
Here's some of the pictures inside:

In other Narnian news, I now have VDT on my iPod! *happy dance*
So, to finish recounting my Easter: after church, we ate lunch at my grandparents.  And I had stopped doing egg hunts, but my mom told me the grand prize was a really good one, and I might be upset if I didn't do the hunt.  It was just me and my sisters, and I won. My reward? A box of Godiva chocolate truffles. Yumsters!

So my Easter consisted of a risen Savior, lots of chocolate, and Narnia.  May a complaining word never escape my lips.

Oh, if only a spring roll would magically appear in front of me...

Ate at Little Tokyo for lunch today: chicken fried rice and shrimp sauce, egg drop soup, teryaki chicken and vegetables, and of course, spring rolls.  And I really wish there had been leftovers. I would be raiding the fridge this very moment. Why does Chinese food have to be so amazingly, reminiscently good?

I never did buy an Easter dress, because I saw nothing I absolutely loved and could afford, but tomorrow's gonna be good.  Just the thought of what we're celebrating is enough. Plus, there's the chocolate...

Finally, I have mixed feelings about dried tears. It is not the most comfortable thing to my cheeks, but it can be a reminder of something bittersweet. Like the Gray Havens scene in LotR.  Yes, we watched the last hour of The Return of the King tonight, and at the part where Frodo leaves, I start to get choked up. I think I'll be okay, until he says goodbye to Sam. The emotional charge is too strong for me to maintain my tear restraint wall. But it's a good kind of crying.

So, all in all, I feel pretty good.  And so concludes this random post.

Keynesianism : the condidtion of loving Skandar?

Ack-chellay, it's an economic policy that I read about in government today.  But of course, it's hard to focus on just what the book is explaining when the name keeps calling dark hair and light brown eyes to my mind.  I do remember that the economist who came up with the policy is John Maynard Keynes, who is Skandar's great, great uncle.

Another Skandom homeschool moment brought to you by Lady Caroline of Rohan.

Narnia and my wardrobe will make a beggar of me

Today, I left the house with $28 in my wallet, and $15 at home.  After a day of shopping, I have a total of $10.  At Target, I found the gladiator sandals I've been dreaming of, and then, I saw it. The last one they had. The three-disc, blu-ray+dvd+digital copy, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.  For $17.  Heck yes! So my younger sister helped me pay for it, and now we have to figure out a way to sell our other 2-disc set, which my dad had bought for us, and I just payed him back my share. (My sisters and I said we'd split the money for it, before we knew of the awesomeness of the 3-disc set.) ANYWAY.....this is so amazing! I love the postcards, and the sleeve, and pretty much everything about it, and I can hardly wait to watch the blu-ray on my blu-ray playin' laptop. Let there be Narnia! Life is good.

As I try to adjust to my retainer and resist the beckoning blue raspberry jolly rancher sitting on the shelf next to my bed

I got my braces off today! *hallelujah chorus* No more rubber bands or stringing tedious floss, no more constant fretting about half-chewed food littering my smile.  And I came home with a retainer and a bag of starbursts, skittles, bubblegum, and...Jolly Ranchers! Yes, the latter ack-chellay came from the orthodontist, as a reward for taking such good care of my braced teeth, lol. To get my retainer, however, they had to get impressions of the upper and lower parts of my mouth, which entailed sticking a piece of metal filled with a minty goo way back into my mouth to the point that I almost gagged.  Instead of just twice, they had to do it 5 times, because for some reason the impressions weren't very impressive.

But anyway, I also went shopping at Kohl's and T.J. Max and got a cute summer skirt and shirt. It's always fun to get new clothes.  Then we had to hurry home so we could go to the Easter play we were to act in at a neighboring church.  Me and my youngest sister had the main speaking parts, and then all three of us sang "What About Today" at the end. It went extremely well. I mixed up none of my lines, and didn't hit but a few sour notes on the piano. I had been feeling faint before the play started, so I prayed extra hard for His help, and He gave it abundantly. :)

Well, I must go to sleep now, before this Jolly Rancher hops straight into my mouth and makes me have to go brush my braceless teeth again.

He even helps me paint...

For quite some time, I had a case of painter's block, but then I thought of Edmund.  And voila!  It didn't turn out as good as I'd hoped it would, but as always, it felt good to paint again:

So Skedmund saves the day again.  ;)

Think Invisible Ink!

Had to do an experiment in chemistry today (the last one of the course! Huzzah!) and I normally don't like to perform experiments, but this one involved making invisible writing visible, which felt fairy tale-ish to me.  Anywho, here's the pictures:

Before: I wrote on this clean piece of parchment, er, paper, with some magical disappearing ink  (that is, lemon juice)

After: I soaked it in a brown visiblizing potion (that is, iodine and water), and a secret message mysteriously appears.

Okay, writing with a cotton swab and a substance you can hardly see makes for horrible handwriting, so in case you couldn't tell what the "secret message" is, it says "Caroline <3 Edmund".  Yeah, I can never quite push him out of my thoughts, even in the chemistry lab.

Oh, and I won't be in Robin Hood :( but I will be in Seussical! :)  And I'm not going to the National Young Leaders Conference because I'd have to do a TON of fundraising, and I don't really want to spend half my summer yard-saling and going to singings.
I hope you DBFs are doing well. Luv 2 ya!

Just catchin' up...

Spring is blooming and everything is coming to life.  And my life seems to have picked up on this busy energy and turned crazy.  I'll begin my senior year this August, so I want to finish up as many textbooks now as can, because I'll have to take physics and possibly (but I am praying not) calculus.  And I want to go to college, so I'm trying to decide what I want to do so I can determine the most fitting university.  And with the end of this school year coming up, I'll have to take a test (probably the ACT), so I'll have to study for that.  And then there's the D.C. conference.  I am having a horrible time deciding whether I'll do all the hard fundraising stuff so I can go or not.  It'll take away a huge chunk of my summer.  But it'd be my first time on a trip by myself, and the thought of it thrills me!  I just don't know what to do!  I STILL don't know if I'll be in Robin Hood or Seussical, but I am going to apprentice at my local theater. YES!  My drama class is putting on a country western show at the end of this month, which I have a feeling will be a lot of fun.  And on top of all this, I'm trying to remain a singer/songwriter and artist.  But I'll be okay; I have to remember "Breathe.  Just breathe." (Btw, that song has been stuck in my head.)

In more interesting news, my dad went to the grocery store today on his way home from work and did something very unlike his usual, health conscious self: he bought six cartons of ice cream.  Vanilla, French vanilla, cherry vanilla, chocolate, coffee, and strawberry.  And I'm like "Heck yeah!" Ice cream fest!  And so I had an extremely pleasant bowl of cherry vanilla ice cream while watching Tangled this evening.  What a fun ending for a Thursday.  But tomorrow is Friday. The 8th. Of April.  Must. Go. To. Walmart.  Hopefully I can keep my squealing to a minimum as I purchase the best movie of 2010.  Unfortunately, the homeschool group art/miniature show is tomorrow night, and then the next morning my little sister has Miracle Worker rehearsal, and that night the three of us are singing at a singing at some church we've never been to, and the there's church on Sunday, and then it's Monday again. I'll squeeze it in somewhere.  I really hope there'll be a blooper reel in the two disc set.

Okay, I think I've covered the basics; somehow I always manage to type these looonnng paragraphs in my everyday posts. Just call me Rambler of Rohan, lol.  Until next time, whenever that may be, love to you my DBFs. :)
