Think Invisible Ink!

Had to do an experiment in chemistry today (the last one of the course! Huzzah!) and I normally don't like to perform experiments, but this one involved making invisible writing visible, which felt fairy tale-ish to me.  Anywho, here's the pictures:

Before: I wrote on this clean piece of parchment, er, paper, with some magical disappearing ink  (that is, lemon juice)

After: I soaked it in a brown visiblizing potion (that is, iodine and water), and a secret message mysteriously appears.

Okay, writing with a cotton swab and a substance you can hardly see makes for horrible handwriting, so in case you couldn't tell what the "secret message" is, it says "Caroline <3 Edmund".  Yeah, I can never quite push him out of my thoughts, even in the chemistry lab.

Oh, and I won't be in Robin Hood :( but I will be in Seussical! :)  And I'm not going to the National Young Leaders Conference because I'd have to do a TON of fundraising, and I don't really want to spend half my summer yard-saling and going to singings.
I hope you DBFs are doing well. Luv 2 ya!

  1. Aww sorry about the conference situation. At least you got offered to go to it so that's pretty cool. Since you're homeschooled does your mom or whoever teahces you come up with expiriments and such? Or do they get ideas from a giant book> I'm curious. Haha, Caroline and Edmund. I hope there's an Ed for all of us. Because you can't claim him! lol jk ;)

  2. Well, now that I've done some research on the conference, it's not such a "special honor" as they make it seem like in the invitation. One thing that I'm kinda disappointed about is that there's a dance, and since I'm homeschooled, that would've been my only opportunity to go to a dance and where a formal dress.:( But there are worse things.
I've pretty much taught myself; my mom orders textbooks and such from homeschool resources and I read through and do the exercises, assignments, and experiments throughout.
Hey, I thought we had an understanding from the very beginning: EDMUND IS MINE! Lol, just kidding; I would never be so selfish. I liked how you put that, "an Ed for all of us." I hope so too. Forget Prince Charming, we want Just Kings!
